A Guide To Loving Yourself
Laila Page
Valentine’s day has been and gone, and it can make some feel lonely. In theory, the day is meant to be about love. However, in practise not everyone has someone to celebrate this day with. The Office for National Statistics says that around 51% of people in the UK are single. Which means a lot of people were single for Valentine’s Day, which means some self love advice may need to be given.
So, here are some ideas that you could follow to cheer you up and treat yourself:
There you have it. four bits of advice that I recommend you follow; they might just make you feel better.
So, here are some ideas that you could follow to cheer you up and treat yourself:
- Firstly, take a break. Some of us have recently finished our mocks, while others are about to tackle them. This could mean you've spent lots of time revising and deserve a break from it. So take the day off, there is tonnes of time before the exams, so taking one or two days off shouldn’t mess up anyone’s revision. What it can do, though, is allow you a day of rest and to just take a break.
- Secondly, have an early night. We all know that all that's on late at night are repeats of old programs and the occasionally teleshopping channel, so most of the time it’s really not worth staying up late. As students, some of us may be pulling ‘all-nighters’ to get all our homework done, or staying up all night with the stress of coursework, or spending nights out with friends; this extra sleep could help you refocus and make you more relaxed for the rest of the week.
- Thirdly, find a hobby. though it may not feel like it, there is plenty of time to find a new hobby. Do something that makes you feel good.
- Finally, eat healthy. This is one I personally don’t follow, but then again, I don’t follow most of my own advice, and as a result, I’m a ball of ice cream eating stress 90% of the time. Eating healthily is meant to make you feel better, so maybe eating well for the day is a good idea. Instead of buying a half-priced box of heart shaped chocolate from the Valentines Day sale, why not eat an apple? Apples are sort of heart shaped, so I guess it keeps the theme going…
