Autumn Nails
Oonagh Bottilaco
It’s now officially autumn so we wanted to show you some of our favourite nail varnishes for this time of the year. The leaves are turning brown and it’s time to swap your bright pink nail varnish for deep burgundy colours. This season it’s all about deep purples, plums and reds as well as a basic nude. We’ve put together some of our favourites from brands such as Essie and Barry M (sold in Boots or Superdrug) and are cheaper alternatives to brands such as Chanel or Nails Inc.
Starting off with a natural shade that pretty much goes with everything: the Barry M nail varnish in the shade ‘Cappuccino’. Another one of our favourites is ‘Leggy Legend’, which the Essie autumn collection is named after. It’s a warm, shimmering rose-tinted bronze shade. Now onto the darker shades, Barry M has recently come out with a new matte nail varnish line. The shade ‘Espresso’ goes with pretty much everything and anything. Dark shades may not be to everyone’s liking but we recommend Topshop’s deep red in the shade named ‘Pillar box’ as part of their have a huge section of affordable varnishes.
In order to keep your nail varnish lasting for as long as possible, you definitely need to consider applying a top coat to prevent unwanted chipping. We know it can be a pain and makes the process of painting your nails long but we promise it will keep your nails looking polished and lasting longer.
