Awards Evening, on Wednesday 22nd June, was an exciting event which allowed the staff and students alike to celebrate the many achievements of the pupils here at the Herts and Essex High School. The students were commemorated for a myriad of achievements, varying from prizes rewarding excelled skills in specialist areas to an overall recognition of outstanding service to the school, never-ending efforts and huge academic achievements.
It was also an honour to welcome our guest speaker for the evening, Nicola Padfield, a fellow and master of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Nicola presented a thought-provoking insight into how the prizes awarded could aid the students in their futures; this was done by an inspiring analogy, comparing the awards to passports, a ticket to an exciting future which will allow our students to change the world for the better. Following the ceremony, the students, along with all of our guests were invited to celebrate together by enjoying drinks and canapés in the courtyard. This allowed for an excellent opportunity for the students, staffs and our guests to appreciate the achievements of our students this year, with one another, on the warm evening. Some of our guests who attended the event included the Bishop’s Stortford town mayor, Keith Warnell, as well as the many school governors and our visitors from Eden High School, all of whom helped to make the evening a success through sharing their reflections of the evening. Overall, the evening provided an enjoyable atmosphere which really allowed the staff and students alike to celebrate the many successes of Herts and Essex over the previous year. We would love to offer the students awarded with prizes a final congratulation, wishing them all the best of luck for the future. We eagerly anticipate the achievements that the coming year will bring! |
