Charity Ball to help bring the homeless in from the cold this Christmas
On December 21st, Hertfordshire and Essex student Kimberley Cox will be hosting a Christmas Ball for the charity Crisis at Christmas, at the Hilton, Stansted. She has managed to organise the glitzy Christmas event as part of her extended project work and has sold approximately 150 tickets so far.
Kim hopes to take Events Management at university when she finishes school this year, and has taken the opportunity to get some real world experience and raise some much needed money for charity in the process.
On the night, there will be a raffle to try and raise additional funds for Crisis. Kim has managed to arrange some fantastic prizes specially selected to be appealing to the students attending, such as paintballing, dominoes pizzas and a spa experience, as well as a professional photographer who has agreed to donate some of his profits from the night to the charity.
After careful consideration, Kim decided to support Crisis at Christmas. This charity provides funding for those on the streets unable to have a Christmas due to their situation; Crisis gives them a Christmas dinner and a warm place to stay.
Kim states “to me this type of charity is incredibly important especially at this time of year. Typically, for us on Christmas Day, we tend not think about those on the streets spending Christmas alone.”
“For most of us, Christmas is a joyous occasion which we spend with our friends and family. However, this year those attending the Ball are automatically supporting Crisis alongside having a great festive party: helping to bring some comfort to people who are less fortunate”.
Kim is hoping to raise a minimum of £700 for the charity, which would mean at least 33 homeless people would be brought in from the cold this Christmas.
