Summer's sporting inspiration is... Christian Igoe
We all hear about the same sports time and time again. Whether it be netball or rounders we have heard it too many times. Let's be honest we need to hear something new or we may scream! But there is no need for you to search far and wide to find this as this term's sporting edition is someone who does a unique sport. His name is Christian and not only is he an avid rugby player but he also does kickboxing which ,if you are anything like me, makes your ears prick up. What an inspiration to be doing something different to the rest of us! He not only plays these sports and puts effort into improving in these fields but is very successful at them too. For example, he was in Saracens in terms of playing rugby which is applaudable and he is on brown belt for kickboxing which is the 2nd best belt you can get. These achievements are evidence of his: hard work, determination and skill that Christian has. Well done Christian and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours. To those who want to start either of these sports after reading this article then some advice he would give you would be: to put time and effort into training if you want to hone your technique and improve yourself from the last session otherwise you won't improve. We can't all necessarily be natural athletes like Christian but if you are willing to commit yourself to this particular sport make sure you do so safely and with someone who knows what they are doing seeing as this is a sport not normally practiced and uses muscles not usually used. But as Christian says the sport lets him let off steam, go up the ranks and keeps him both mentally and physically healthy so it is clearly a sport worth trying. By Ethy Ttoffali
