Begin with clean nails, shape them to your preference and make sure you have all your colours and tools out in front of you ready to use - such as cotton wool and nail polish remover to ditch the evidence if you make any mistakes! (Image 1)
For this Easter inspired look I chose to have a base colour of 'Skinny Dip' Coconut Infusion by Barry M and the two top colours as 'An Even Bigger Splash' (the pastel blue) and 'Mating Surfaces' (the pastel purple) by Wah London Nails. Use any top coat you have and (this is optional but I like a bit of bling on my nails) I found some regular nail gems to add as well. (Image 2)
Start painting your nails with the base colour, working from the outside of your hand in, and then go over that first layer to build the colour. (Image 3)
For the first side of the nail pick up the blue nail colour, you want minimal nail polish on the brush, and lightly dab it along one side of your nail from top to bottom making sure not to go right to the middle. You can always add another layer of the colour looks too light. (Image 4)
Once you have done the first colour on all of your nails repeat the process with the second colour, the purple. Try not to let the two colours meet in the middle as we want a slight gap, it doesn't matter if the line isn't straight though as I actually quite liked the wavy effect created. (Image 5)
Set time aside for the nails to dry and put one layer of top coat on the finger next to your pinkie (this will help the gem stick) (Image 6)
Next choose some fancy gems if you want that extra sparkle and get a tool which you can use to pick them up with, I suggest tweezers if you don't have a professional tool. (Image 7)
If you are using a professional tool a great tip to pick up those tricky gems is to dip the tip into some clear polish and then press onto the top of the gem and it should pick straight up! (Image 8)
Place the gem in the centre of one of your fingers, I recommend the next finger along from your pinkie. As this is an Easter Inspired look we don't want to get too glam but you could always add more if you would like. Put a layer of top coat polish on top to seal the gem in. (Image 9)
Put a couple of layers of clear top coat on top of the rest of your nails to set the colour and give it a glossy finish. And there you have it, easy non-hassle Easter nails which look funky whatever your outfit! (image 10)
