Megan Pointer: Sports Personality of the Year

After many years of being a member of various sporting teams within the school and volunteering her time to coach and umpire for other teams, Megan Pointer was given the title of ‘Sports Personality of The Year’.
On the 17th of September at the Hertfordshire and Essex High School Sports Awards evening, Megan was presented with the award. Megan has won numerous awards at presentation evenings at her netball club and has even won an award from the Jack Petchy foundation.
Over the years, Megan has partaken in an extensive number of sports both in and out of school, these include sports such as: netball, hockey, football, volleyball, athletics, swimming for the school and indoor rowing. Megan has done extremely within these sports, partaking in numerous tournaments and competitions and winning individual gold in indoor rowing, which she believes is one of her greatest achievements.
As a long term member of both the Herts and Essex school netball team and The Crosskeys netball club Megan has become an extremely experienced netball player and has had the opportunity to go on netball tours within England and Paris. Megan now plays for the division two Crosskeys team and swims for the Bishop's Stortford swimming club. Megan has also begun to pass on her skills by coaching lower school netball teams and the teachers' netball team and was also one of the Year 12 girls who pushed for a girl’s rugby team to be set up. Megan will remain dedicated to sports throughout sixth form and actively involved in different clubs and matches alongside studying for her A Levels.
