‘Action is needed sooner, rather than later’ , Abortion Activists say.
Around the globe, activists against abortion laws continue to struggle against the war on abortions. They say if these laws don’t change soon, many will be in danger.
Recently, the topic of abortion has spread
through the news like wildfire and has
been the question on everyone’s mind.
Debates around the ethicality of abortions
have been all over the internet, and it
seems that everyone has an opinion about
it.
Many countries around the globe like the
USA and Poland have restricting laws on
abortions, but how far do these restrictions
really stop abortions from happening?
Recent studies have shown that in
countries without abortion laws see rates
of 34 per 1000 people getting abortions
each year while countries with abortion
laws see rates of 37 per 1000 getting
abortions.
You may be wondering, how are these
people getting abortions if it is illegal?
Even though abortions are very hard to
get legally in countries with abortion laws,
there are other ways. One being
backstreet clinics.
Backstreet clinics are notorious for being
unsanitary, dangerous and to be run by
non professionals. Despite this, over 25
million unsafe abortions take place each
year, Which is the same amount of people
who live in australia and 45% of all
abortions.
These procedures are killing women. It is
estimated that 30 in every 100,000 women
die from unsafe abortion in developed
regions while it is 220 in every in 100,000
women in underdeveloped regions.
Internationally, people are not letting this
happen and are protesting profusely for
their rights. They say that governments
need to be educated on how abortions
have saved the lives of many, and how
banning them will prove to be more
dangerous.
Yet, Governments across the globe don’t
seem to be moving on this topic, and as
protesters have said, action is needed
now.
